LOTR swept everthing, vacuum everything in their sight, and on its wake is Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.
And now, lemme tell ya the history here, I thought Peter Weir (of M&C) is a Kiwi, really, I seriously think so. And I love his works as far as I can remember. I mean, he got Harrison Ford the Oscar nomination for Witness, and who could forget the totally different Robin Williams that shed his funny side in Dead Poets Society, gah! Ethan! Then then... one of the best movie I ever seen, The Truman Show, he brought out the other side of Jim Carrey. So yes, he's the one to watch, really, and for all this, any awards that were given to him is well-deserved.
Peter Jackson is a Kiwi, nuff said, everyone in the whole world know this. Nobody is brave enough to get LOTR done, and he deserves it on this merit alone. Both Peters are cool, and both Peters deserve some sort of recognition.
Hence, my confusion when my dear Peg mentioned, HA! Peter Weir of LOTR won! I was like... what?? huh??? Since when Mr Weir has anything to do with LOTR. He's the ship guy, not the hobbit guy! Dude, you mean Jackson?? Please say you mean Jackson cos don't confuse me and make me think all sorts of things.
It was Jackson, and yea, I'm gonna sound like a bad fan cos at that moment, I wish for Mr Weir. Cos he's just this close man. Just because. But overall, I'm glad, I'm happy and it's one of the thing that just belongs to you, that goes the way you wish for.
The cutest thing of the night? Johnny Depp and Keisha Castle-Hughes. Keisha gushes over him, and if I'm 13, I will too. Johnny, gah! he's so sweet, and he was like... you did good, really good, damm talented. Dude, no wonder, meeting your idol like that.
As much as I want Johnny to get Best Actor nod, I'm glad for Sean Penn too. How many times? Three times before? Oh dear... And finally, he scored. But this year's nominees are mixed, and that's just totally great! Yes, I'm all for versatility.
